British farmers are turning to regenerative agriculture in an effort to insulate themselves from the impacts of climate change. The practice, which, inter alia, encourages farmers to reduce their dependence on agrochemicals, can also mitigate disruptions to supply chains (e.g., Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz). [FT]

Inspired by the biomechanics we see in diving birds, scientists at MIT and EPFL have designed a robot that can flap its way into the air after swimming underwater. This kind of technology can help us conduct experiments that have hitherto been too dangerous to perform. [AAAS]
